The Doo Wop Cruisers Car Club was founded by Frank Bronner in 1999.
Because of the love for Hot Rods and Race Cars all his life, he grew to know several car people that not only liked to work on their classic ride, but also liked the love of Oldies Music. Thus became the name: The Doo Wop Cruisers Car Club.
In the spring of 2001 Frank's wife Jeanne was told that she had ovarian cancer.
This was a shock to everyone. After surgery and several chemo treatments Jeanne was able to survive another two years. During this period, The Doo Wop Cruisers Car Club has hosted two big events to benefit the American Cancer Society. One big event that was held at Zandri's Stillwood Inn in Wallingford Ct. This event featured well known performers such as: Kenny Vance and The Planatones, The New Barrons, The Key West Trio, and other local musical artists. In the Fall of 2002 another event was held to benefit the American CancerSociety. A fifties dance held at the IL Monticello in Meriden Ct. Entertainment such as : The Tokens and The Emotions made an evening of fun and musical enjoyment.
In July of 2003 Jeanne passed away and the Doo Wop Cruisers was put on hold until further notice. In November of 2004 Frank and Roseann were married and the two formed a bond, with the love of oldies music and classic cars the Doo Wop Cruisers were on their way back.
In the Spring of 2008 The Doo Wop Cruisers Car Club returned to host a benefit car show along with the F.O.R.D. Car Club for the local MS Society and the Dr. William Petit foundation. The following year 2009 another benefit for the local chapter of the MS Society was held at the Four Points Sheriden in Meriden Ct. The event was a fifties sock hop and again was to benefit the Petit foundation.
In the Fall of 2009 Frank disolved the Doo Wop Cruisers to join the F.O.R.D. club that eventually became the Saturday Nite Cruisers Car Club. There he remained as President
until November of 2011.
As of January 2012 The Doo Wop Cruisers Are Back, and are planning a spectacular summer, with new events that no other cruise night has done before.
